Photography has changed the way I see the World.

Photography has changed the way I see the world. Instead of rushing from place to place like I once did, I now find myself slowing down and taking time to see just how beautiful the world can be.

For years I found myself documenting adventures with photos, but I started sharing them because of these amazing road trips my wife would design. These trips would bring us through different states and they showcased the best that each state had to offer. In 2018, my obsession with photography began as we set out on our first trip to California. As we were sitting on the plane we decided to launch a blog (www.somethingonce.com) and write about everything we experienced. We based the concept of the blog on a mentality we both shared: We never wanted to be afraid to try something and we would challenge each other to always try something once. We never wanted to regret not giving something a shot.

“Something Once” quickly became our motto, it became our lifestyle, and we wanted to share it with the world. The only way to share this was with our words and our photos, and with every photo I took, my love for photography grew.

Early on in this journey, my pictures were primarily of landscapes or of places we traveled to, but in 2020, we were blessed with the birth of our son. This gave me nine whole months to document everything leading up to his arrival: the pregnancy announcement and then constant candids of my wife throughout her pregnancy. But once he was born, I then had a full-time subject to aim all of my cameras at.

Our adventures as a couple were what started my passion with photography, but each day as a new father keeps me trying to learn more. I am always looking for ways to remember these beginnings, because like everyone says “It goes by so fast”.
